The design contest, sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, is open to all high school-age students.

Operation Egg Drop - A STEAM Event!

Please join us for this fun STEAM event! In this class, students will learn about engineering, construction, and the scientific process! Students will be put into teams based on age and compete to create a device that can keep a chicken egg intact when dropped from the top of a ladder.

  • This is an activity for grades 1-12 and will be offered in person at the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee.

  • STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving.

The Schedule for the event is as follows:

  • 12:00 - 12:45: Meet teammates and “purchase” materials. (students will be given a budget amount and will need to allocate RVA Bucks to purchase the materials needed to complete the project).

  • 12:45 - 1:30: Students will take a small break for lunch and to discuss their team strategy

  • 1:30 - 3:00: Students will have time to create their device as well as try it out.

  • 3:00 - 3:30: Egg Drop! We will drop the eggs and see which teams win!

  • 3:30 - 4:00: Awards Ceremony!

Ages 8-13 Fun and Games - Escape Room!

Calling all RVA students ages 8-13! Would you like to meet other students your age? Do you like to play games? If so, then this is the event for you!

Students ages 8-13 are invited to the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee to play games and meet other students. We will have our own escape room! We will be playing Escape The Room: Mystery at the Stargazer’s Manor. A mysterious, interactive, party game!

The Objective: Spend an evening working with your guests to solve puzzles, unlock hidden clues, and unravel the mystery of the Stargazer’s Manor. Will you and your guests be able to solve the mystery and save the astronomer before time runs out?

The Mystery: It’s 1869 and the town’s well-respected astronomer has not been seen since the untimely passing of his wife. Recently, strange things have been happening at his manor – loud and unfamiliar noises, an unpleasant smell, and smoke billowing from the observatory. It’s up to you and your guests to solve the mystery at the Stargazer’s Manor!

Discover Your Personality Type - Myers-Briggs

Have you ever wondered about your personality type? Join this fun event and find out more about your personality type by taking the Myers-Briggs personality test!

This is an online-only event in Mrs. Mukerji’s Zoom Room.

In this course, students will obtain their 4-letter type formula according to Carl Jung’s and Isabel Briggs Myers’ typology, along with the strengths of preferences and the description of their personality type, communication, and learning style. Students will also discover careers and occupations most suitable for their personality type and see which famous personalities share their type!

Pen Pals and Letter Writing

Please consider joining us for this awesome event! We will be partnering with Rennes Health and Rehabilitation to offer students the opportunity to make connections with local seniors in the Greater Wausau area. This event is open to all ages, although students will need to be able to write to complete the activity.

This event will be capped at 10 students so sign up today!


In this class students will:

  • Learn the basics of letter writing including addressing a letter, writing a salutation and greeting, proper paragraphs, and finally, a closing.

  • Make connections with a local senior citizen.

  • Recieve their own letter back!

  • Receive 1 (or more) hours of community service towards their overall yearly goal!

All About Sound: A STEAM Investigation

Please join us for this fun STEAM Course, “All About Sound: A STEAM Investigation” In this 3-week course, students will learn about the properties of sound, music, and have workshop time to create their own musical instruments.

  • This is an activity for grades K-12 and will be offered in person at the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee.

  • STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving.

The Schedule for the event is as follows:

  • March 3: Week 1- All About Sound: A lesson about the basics of sound and the relationship between sound and music. Students will be given instructions on creating their own musical instruments. Students will take home their materials and create their instruments. Materials at home may also be used.

  • March 10: Week 2- Sounds Around the World: A lesson about traditional musical instruments from all over the world. Also this week: Students will present the instruments they made at home.

  • March 17: Week 3- Share/Present: Penny Whistle Class! Students attending week 3 will be in for a special St. Patrick’s Day treat! Students will be given a penny whistle and learn how to play it!

Resume Writing Workshop

Do you plan to apply for a job? Do you know how to write a resume? If not, this event is for you! This is a course is offered for grades 8-12, and RVA parents!

  • In this event, we will go over the basics of resume writing.

  • Students will be provided with some template options to begin writing their resumes.

  • The course will focus on language, content, and information to highlight to show your best self prior to an interview.

  • Resume writing can be tricky - but is SO very important! Come and check out this event if you would like to have a stellar resume!

  • This course is available in-person at the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee and online in Mrs. Mukerji’s Zoom Room. If attending in person, please make sure to bring your Chromebook.

Valentine's "Philanthro - Party"

Please join us for a fun “Philanthro - Party”. The word philanthropy refers to charitable acts or other good works that help others or society as a whole.

  • This is an all-ages event for students to come together and work to create Valentine’s Day cards for the local nursing home and hospital.

  • This is an excellent opportunity to work on your required RVA community service hours AND make connections with other students and have fun.

  • This will be a social event as well - refreshments will be provided!

RVA's 100 Cup STEAM Challenge!

Please join us for the 1st annual RVA 100 Cup STEAM Challenge! In this very fun activity, students will be challenged to a variety of building challenges - all with cups!

  • This is an all-ages activity.

  • STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. The end results are students who take thoughtful risks, engage in experiential learning, persist in problem-solving.

  • Students who attend in-person at the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee will have individual and group challenges to encourage collaboration, communication, leadership, problem-solving, and listening skills. All materials will be provided.

  • Students who attend online will be given the challenge rules and encouraged to complete the challenge with family members! Students will be encouraged to upload their towers to a Flipgrid to share! Supplies will not be mailed out, families must supply their own cups.

Create Your Own Adventure Story

Please join us for this fun writing event! Choose Your Own Adventure, or Secret Path Books is a series of children's gamebooks where each story is written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character's actions and the plot's outcome. Students will make their own story using google slides. Click here to view an example.

  • This class will be offered to RVA students both in-person and online. Please make sure to RSVP if you will be attending at the RVA Learning Center in Mosinee or online in Mrs. Mukerji’s Zoom Room.

  • Students will learn the basics of google slides

  • Needed supplies: Chromebook

"If I Lived in A Snowglobe" - Creative Writing Event

Please join us for this very fun creative writing event! This event will be held on multiple days to ensure all students have the ability to participate.

  • Students in grades 1-5 and will explore sensory language, creative writing, handwriting, spelling, and motor skills to create a fun story based on the prompt, “If I lived in a snowglobe”. Students will take home their story and project to show parents when finished! This will be a project to hang on the fridge - for sure!

  • Students in grades 6-12 will learn more advanced writing techniques including sensory language, creative writing technique, mood, tone by writing a creative story based on the prompt, “If I lived in a snowglobe”. Students will take home their projects at the end of the meeting.

    If a student would like to write or begin writing prior to our meeting - they are more than welcome to do so! Please bring your RVA Chromebook if you can!
